The Latin American News Alliance was invited to begin the process of joining the World Broadcasting Union.

Bogotá D.C., December 26, 2024. The Latin American Information Alliance (AIL) was invited to begin the process of joining the World Broadcasting Union (WBU). The WBU is an organization of the Continental Broadcasting Unions, which was created in 1992.

The broadcasting unions who belong to the WBU are the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU), the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU), the African Union of Broadcasting (AUB), the Caribbean Broadcasting Union (CBU), the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), the International Association of Broadcasting (AIR/IAB), and the North American Broadcasters Association (NABA).

As part of the invitation, the AIL will participate in the WBU technical committee, news committee and broadcasting treaty working group. The invitation also includes the cooperation and exchange of content of interest to all WBU member organizations and AIL partner channels.

Joining the WBU, the AIL will strengthen its international presence, provide better news service to its associates and establish new cooperative ties with organizations in other regions of the world.
