The Latin American Information Alliance formally joins the World Broadcasting Union

After a six-month trial period, the Latin American Information Alliance (AIL) was invited to join the World Broadcasting Union (WBU). The WBU is the body that coordinates continental broadcasting unions worldwide.

The WBU was created in 1992 in Toronto, Canada. The organization is composed of: the African Union of Broadcasting (AUR/UAB), the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU), the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU), the Caribbean Broadcasting Union (CBU), the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), the North American Broadcasting Association (NABA), and the International Association of Broadcasting (IAB/AIR).

As a member of the WBU, the AIL will be able to participate in the organization’s committees, specifically the technical committee, the news committee, and the broadcasting treaty working group. It will also be able to cooperate and exchange content of interest.

Being part of the WBU will allow the AIL to strengthen its international presence, provide better news services to its members, and establish new ties of cooperation with important organizations around the world.
